Lance Kellar
Lance is originally from Oklahoma and while living there with his artist roommate, Lance started to dabble with tattooing. “I’ve always been art dedicated,” Kellar states, “I started out as a piercer but just kind of fell into tattooing. I am self taught.”
Lance describes his tattoo style falling into the categories of gray wash and new school but really he enjoys doing anything. He finds most of his inspiration from John Parker, an artist that’s from his home state of Oklahoma. The best part of tattooing for Kellar is there is never a dull moment; he is always learning new things and he likes dealing with people. Recently he has been published in Pain Magazine, Detroit Live Magazine, and his studio has won Channel 4 Best of Detroit best tattoo shop three years in a row.
While he’s not at the shop, Lance likes spending time with his family and friends. He enjoys cooking out and playing with his “kids” – two full grown boxers, Dobbs and Dempsey.
A few random things we wanted to know about Lance:
IA: If you could choose to be a superhero, who would you be?
LK: Hmm… well I would have to say Wolverine.
IA: Is Oklahoma going to win the national championship this year?
LK: Yes they are.
IA: If they don’t, what will you do?
LK: Probably be mad. Then cry.
IA: What is your favorite part about living in Michigan?
LK: The four seasons
IA: Least favorite part?
LK: All the snow at winter and how cold it gets.
IA: What are your plans for the LKS (Lance Kellar Studios) and InkAddict Halloween party?
LK: I’m planning to have it at the Black Market. No costume picked out yet.
IA: If you were a UFC fighter, what would be your entrance song?
LK: I’ve lost sleep thinking about this. Hatebreed- Destroy Everything.
