This past weekend The Baltimore Gallery hosted the first Battle of The Hands, a live paint battle between 16 artists from both Detroit and Chicago. The concept was created by Detroit street artist Phybr (Ken Dushane III) as an opportunity for these artists to showcase their talent.
Attendees got to meander throughout a maze of blank panels where each artist had 3 hours to lay down their vision. The only criteria was they could only use black & white paint and their subject must inspired by Halloween.

The crowd voted for their favorite pieces, and three winners were selected. The First Place winner was Gagnon (Brian Gagnon), followed by second place winner Jimbo, and third place winner Brain Killer (Brian Keller). Other artists included Phybr, Rec3, Radah, Abckills, Artsy Fart, Ashley Mcfadden, Theirde, Jaccob Shepherd, Seks, Trae Isaac, Corey Julian Perez, Paolo Pedini, Helo Melo, Paul Johnson, Ward, Wolfman Baker, & Adam Hayes.
Events like this continue to put Detroit on the map as a vibrant and creative city, and allow for networking and a sense of community between artists and spectators alike. This event was fueled by music, good company, pizza and pbr, and most importantly an undying passion for creating something meaningful to share with the world.
