Chive Fests & Chive Charities happening around the USA with the tagline being “probably the best little festival in the world” I had to ask myself, what is Chive? Before today I mainly thought of chive as a culinary plate dressing and nothing more. Backed with the likes of Andrew WK, Empire of the Sun, 2 Chainz, Matt & Kim, Girl Talk, Talib Kweli, Cold War Kids, Neon Indian, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, and more, Chive has been anything but a seasoning for dinner.
What started as a blog consisting of viral and interesting categorized videos has turned into a global movement. Chive took their internet fame and used if for good. Self proclaimed “Chivers” have become “the greatest community of sexy creatures, generous misfits, and crazy hooligans to come through the net.” Chivers are encouraged to reach out to their local chapters, gather on social media, meet up, get involved, grab some drinks, and devise ways to make a difference in their communities by throwing parties to raise money. They even have their own KCCO beer to toast. Chapters select a cause, utilize ticket sales, raffles, and shirts through the Chivery to generate funds. This “flash charity” strategy is bringing them even more attention and labeling Chivers as "easily the most generous community on the web today."
Chive Charities are dedicated to championing the underdogs. The causes they focus on are disabled and sick individuals with rare medical conditions, disabled veterans in need of quality of life enhancements, underfunded special needs education initiatives, and organizations that provide emergency assistance / disaster relief.
August 8th, InkAddict teamed up with Chive Charity and local radio station 101.1 WRIF at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, MI, for an amazing benefit called Suits for Soldiers. This is a charity to provide veterans with suits for job interviews to help them re enter the civilian world and get them employed. InkAddict loves to party and the party king Andrew WK was right there with us! We brought some of our brand new designs from our 2014 Fall Line and donated 20% of what we sold to Suits for Soldiers. We had such a great time at this benefit and look forward to joining in on the next Chive event.
